Rockford Manufacturing Group Inc. (RMG)
acquired Lewis Machine in 2003 because of the value and respect that
the Lewis Machine line commands in the industry.
The Lewis Straightening & Cutting machine
has been around for nearly 100 years. At RMG, we are very sensitive to the
fact that many Lewis customers still want that same long-standing, robust,
proven design and the design changes we have incorporated have not deviated
from that concept.
This is a critical time for our customers to
improve up time and throughput and RMG has accomplished these objectives by
replacing the mechanical clutch with our patented “Clutchless”
cutting technology that RMG patented in the late 1990s. In addition we have
utilized the latest in Variable Frequency Drives eliminating the hydro
mechanical transmission of the past. Equally as important we now include independent
arbor and feed speed adjustments with fully adjustable, absolute setting of
feed roll pressure for improved set ups.

We are pleased to announce the recent
release of our completely redesigned Lewis 0SHV and 1SHV
Straightening & Cutting machines. The 0SHV has a capacity of .030” to .100”
and the 1SHV can handle .045” to .135” diameter wire. These machines have
been successful with applications processing titanium, stainless steel and
silver alloys. Many of our customers have reported an increase of over 30%
in productivity compared with their older machines.
